Exploring Hidden Talents in young guns
What do you wish your child to be when he grows up? A common question most of us have had to answer during "interactions" at various schools during our child's admission process. Mostly the answer comes from a well rehearsed session with the family - A Doctor! An Engineer! A Lawyer! How surprising was it then when I first heard answers such as - "Well, I think he'll be a mechanic, because he plays with his toy cars all day".
More and more the attitude of parents and schools is shifting to allow their child's fantasy and interest stem their ambition. In any event the new generation is privileged in their exposure and this has also bridged the generation gap tremendously. Children today are not inhibited to express their views and opinions tO their parents. On the contrary they are brought up to form their own views and impressions about various subjects of discussion in the household. Most parents today boast about their children having more knowledge about modern technology, gadgets, environment, health and current affairs. As parents then do we expect our child to adopt the profession of our choice?
